Playroom Decorating Ideas
We have a space in the attic just for the grandkids. It's their very own indoor tree house playroom. Since the attic is on the 3rd floor at tree top level, we thought a tree house theme was fitting. Since we had a tree house theme, we decided to recycle an old tire that was sitting around in the garage waiting to be taken to the dump. It became a tire chair. The kids think it's awesome. We try to emphasize "chair" so they don't get too crazy swinging on it. This summer when the kids came to Ohio to visit, we decided it would be cool to paint a tree on the wall behind the tire chair. We wanted the branches to extend over the ceiling so it would look like the tire was hanging from the tree. After they went home, I painted the tree. When the kids visit next, they can paint birds, squirrels or what ever else they decide to add to the tree mural. Mardi Gras 2010
It's Mardi Gras time! Fat Tuesday is February 16, 2010. To help with your Mardi Gras menu we have added a few of our favorite recipes such as Gumbo,
Jambalaya, Crawfish Chowder and "Le bon ton rouille" Etched Glassware
Etched glassware can be made from a variety of different clear glassware pieces. Dishes, containers, and bottles such as milk, olive oil, vinegar or wine can be upgraded with frosted embellishments. It's a good way to dress up a glass contianer for a gift. Fill the contianer with candy, cookies, or any homemade item. The gift receiver will have the etched glass container long after the goodies are gone.
Did you know that Habitat for Humanity operates retail stores where you can find great deals?
Habitat ReStores are retail outlets where quality, used and surplus building materials are sold
at a fraction of normal prices. Proceeds from ReStores help local affiliates fund the construction
of Habitat houses within the community.
Think Green, Giving New Life to Discarded Stuff
The best things in life are free, especially when it comes to home accessories, discarded stuff left in basements, attics, garages and in the neighbor'strash could be an awesome piece of furniture or art for you. This rattan coffee table was headed for a bonfire. As much as we enjoy the bonfire parties my sister-in-law Terri has, we didn't see this table as recycled wood for burning. Simple Recipes
This classic quiche recipe is a French dish that can be served any time of the day either as a main course, side dish or appetizer. To make it easier I use Pillsbury pre made pie crusts. They are available in most major grocery stores in the refrigerated pastry section. |
