Candle Holder Centerpieces
Make your own candle holder centerpieces for holiday decorating, special occasions or for everyday use. They are a fun and creative way to light up your dinner table. Making glass candle holders is easier than it sounds. While looking on the internet at Pottery Barn, I came across a picture of hand blown glass candle holders and fell in love with them. The only problem, they were selling the candle sticks not the holders. So, of course my creative mind started working and I thought, I can make those. I started searching around the house for glass pieces and went shopping at Goodwill for a few more glass pieces. I stopped at a discount store and bought 6 - 5" candles for $2. I'm glad Pottery Barn wasn't selling the candle holders, for just a few dollars I was able to assemble my own decorative candle holders. This idea clicked pretty quick for me because I like to make pedestals and risers for buffets using dishes and other items to display food. The candle holders are stacked the same way adhering Fun Tack between the layers to prevent the glass pieces from slipping. The Fun Tack will wash away so the pieces can come apart for easy storage. Clear glass bottles also make great candle holders. You can use empty wine, liquor or decorative oil bottles or any clear or colored glass bottles you may have. Glass pieces needed;
Assemble candle holders; Assemble candle holders by using the footed dessert bowls and stacking dessert plates or saucers on top ending with a vase or candle holder. Adhere glass pieces with Fun Tack for easy removal.
For permanent glass candle holders; For a permanent glass candle holder make sure it's balanced, adhering the glass pieces with a permanent glue such as Gorilla Glue. Using a ruler find the center point on the back of the plate and make a dot. Place a compass on your center dot and lightly draw a circle the same size as the corresponding footed dish or vase. Place the adhesive on your footed dish or vase and glue it to your plate. Let adhesive dry or set up before continuing. Decorate Candle Holders; You can decorate the plates of the candle holders for everyday or any holiday. Here's a few suggestions; use acorns, small pine cones, or holly berries. Just don't overdue it, less is more for these simple candle holders. They also look amazing with no decorations. My personal favorite is decorating them with my sea glass collection. The light shimmers off the candle holders and makes an array of colors from the sea glass.
