Cheap Home Decorating Ideas

Here's a cheap home decorating idea that can be used for extra storage in the kitchen, laundry room or a bar for the family room. Instead of looking like one of the kitchen cabinets, it looks like a piece of furniture.

The cabinet was originally made to be used as a bar in the family room, now it's being used as a cabinet for the breakfast room.

It was made as a piece of furniture so it's movable, therefore, it can go from one room to the next or completely moved to a different house.

This cabinet is an easy inexpensive project to make. Supplies can be found at your local home improvement store or a used cabinet store.

Our local Restores has used cabinets ranging from $10 to $40. Restores also has boxes of tile and different materials that can be used for counter tops. The best thing is, you won't need a carpenter.

This paticular cabinet was made with unfinished base cabinets found at a local home improvment store.

1.One single and one double cabinet was connected together.

2.A sheet of plywood was connected for the counter top.

3.Wainscoting of knotty pine was cut and nailed to the sides.

4.Left over tile was broken into pieces and grouted over the plywood counter top.

5.Molding was used for the trim around the counter top.

6.The cabinets were primed and painted, the trim molding was stained.

This is one of many cheap home decorating ideas to make and it also gives extra storage space. The materials that can be used for the counter top are unlimited.

Changing out the cabinet doors or placing a material such as bead board over the doors is another option. The number of looks that can be achieved are also unlimited.
