Christmas Centerpiece Ideas
I challenged myself this holiday season to come up with new Christmas centerpiece ideas without spending a lot of money. Challenge yourself, you'll be amazed at your creativity. I decorated our fireplace mantel with plumes from ornamental grass. I continued to use plumes when decorating our dinning room. Using our large wood bowl, I placed a twig tree, from several holidays ago, in the center of the bowl. Dried pepper berries were added to the tree and natural colored plumes were placed around the bowl for garland. After decorating the bowl I sprayed snow on the twig tree and plumes. The glass candle holders were pieced together using a glass globe and glass vase. Hand made accent balls were placed inside the globe and vase to give the table color. The glass candle holders look amazing decorated with white sea glass we found on the beach. Wine colored candles from fall decorating were used to add just a tinge of bright color. This was a very easy Christmas centerpiece idea and no money spent.
I like to use a little imagination when it comes to my table scape. There are no rules, I have fun by keeping it simple and usable. Great Grandma's linen and silver pieces are mixed in. I placed green metal plates trimmed in silver on top of the charger plate for color. They don't look like metal and they add the perfect amount of color. Don't forget to make an area to display the pies and cookies, desserts make a centerpiece all by them selves.
Lots of candles make a cozy ambiance for dining and for the holidays. I decorated our antique Hoosier cabinet, with decorative green bottles for candle holders and our huge glass globe I enjoy decorating and using for all seasons. I placed a candle holder inside the large globe filled with hand made accent balls and a pillar candle.
The desserts will complete decorating for the buffet when entertaining. I placed silver trays on top of other silver pieces to make pedestal cake plates to display the desserts. A bar set up for guest to help them selves will free up time for the host. Check out this potting table/bar made from a re-used old sewing machine.
