Coleslaw Recipes

coleslaw recipes

This is one of my favorite coleslaw recipes, it isn't the usual creamy coleslaw, it taste sweet and crunchy.

To my mother-in-law's surprise, everyone loved the cole slaw and went back for 2nd's. She isn't famous for making coleslaw, but this recipe was a big hit.

My in-laws, Jerry and Judy went to an Amish restaurant to eat. The restaurant gave them recipes for all the food they ordered, including this coleslaw recipe.

The coleslaw has a long shelf life as long as it is refrigerated. You will want to make the recipe a day ahead so it can marinate overnight before eating.

Ingredients:

Using a coarse grater cut the following in a bowl;

  • 1 Cup Celery
  • 1 Medium Onion
  • 1 Medium Green Bell Pepper
  • 4 Cups Cabbage

Set aside

In a separate bowl mix seasoning;

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup White Vinegar
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Mustard Seed
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Celery Seed
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt

Add seasoning to the vegetable mix and blend well. Let sit overnight before eating. Makes 8 servings.
