Decorative Bells
An old terracotta wind chime was re-purposed into decorative bells for the holidays to use as a door wreath. Where is there a more appropriate place for sheet music than on decorative bells. For me this holiday season has been about recycle and re-purposed items. Recycling and re-purposing has been a part of my life for a long time. It's not just about the right thing to do for mother nature, but it also gets my creative juices flowing. I like the challenge of transforming and creating unique art, and other projects. I take pride in using resources around me from nature to discarded items. The best part is, re-purposed projects are unique and one of a kind. A perfect example is using plumes from ornamental grasses to make garland and wreaths for the holidays. The decorative bells were easy to create with old yellow sheet music I printed from the internet. With a bottle of mod podge in hand, I was ready to get started.
Materials Needed
How to; Cut pieces of sheet music and attach to the bells using mod podge. Continue around the bell until it's covered. Touch up uncovered areas with buttermilk craft paint. The sheet music I printed already had a yellow tint, but I washed over each bell with burnt umber craft paint to deepen the aged appearance. After the bells dry, cover with one coat mod podge to protect. Stagger the bells starting with the largest and working to the top ending with the smallest bell, secure the stings together with 24 gauge wire. Spray paint the washer metallic gold, loop strings though the washer and secure again with 24 gauge wire. Now your bells are ready to hang.
