Fall Table Decorations

Fall decorating is very easy for me. It's my favorite season and I'm easily inspired by all that mother nature has to offer. We enjoy hiking so it's fun to go outdoors and treasure hunt for fall decorations.

There is so much of the outdoors that can be saved and used again for the next season. Pine cones, acorns, and leaves preserved between wax paper. Mother nature gives us a cheap way to have beautiful fall decorations.

Halloween and Thanksgiving make fall a fun time to entertain family and friends. With a few simple ideas it's easy to make fall table decorations and set an inviting table for entertaining.

Hurricane Globe Centerpiece

I used some of my Thanksgiving table decorations from the previous year but I like to make changes when using them again. A good example is the large hurricane globe I found last year at Restores for $3. I filled it with pine cones last year so this year I made some changes.

I placed the globe on a clear glass plate for easy moving and started layering with colorful leaves, pine cones and dried painted gourds.

Have I mentioned I like simple? It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Eclectic Table

The table is set with mixed match napkins and plates. The hand painted dishes go well with a fall table setting, they have a rustic charm and an outdoor theme of squirrels and birds. The chunky white plates tones things down with all the fall colors of oranges, reds, and yellows.

Clear glass bottles and glass candle holders softens things up with their simplicity. They add height on each side of the large hurricane globe, but because they are clear, they do not abstract the view for guest.

I finished the table by sprinkling the center with leaves, acorns and pine corns.

Table Runner

I made a craft paper table runner this year. It's easy, cheap and it adds to the rustic decorating that goes along with the fall season.

Roll the craft paper out onto the table. Cut the width of the paper if it's too wide, cut the length so it curls under the table top. The runner doesn't need glue or tape, it will stay in place.

I painted a vine of leaves running down each side. I kept the colors toned down, I just wanted to make it look very simple.

Dried Gourds for Hurricane Globe Centerpiece

After the fall season don't throw your gourds away. Place them in a plastic bag, hang them in the garage and forget about them until the summer. It takes about 9 months for the gourds to mold and dry out.

Clean the mold off and paint them with different fall colors. Use a tooth brush to splatter paint on the gourds to give them a realistic effect.
