Focal PointGuest post by Scarlett on Locating Your Focal Point In The Room You know that it is very important to have a focal point in your room in order to create a balanced look. Your focal point can be a piece of furniture like a piano or it can be artwork on the wall. A focal point should be appealing to you and it should be easy for you to decorate with. Not everyone has the same taste in decor and your home should have its own focal point according to you. With that said, how do you find the focal point in your room? Is there a certain puzzle you need to figure out? Your focal point can be anything you want it to be but most people choose the largest feature in their room. If a room has no large features that stand out then you can look toward your furniture to create a focal point. If you cannot find furniture that can stand out as a focal point then consider a floral arrangement or even a shelf that you have painted. Your focal point should be the first thing your eyes see when you look around the room. No matter where you are in the room, your eyes always go toward the focal point. Once you locate your focal point, you can decorate the rest of the room accordingly. You can choose a certain color that is found on the focal point to decorate the rest of the room in. When choosing the color, go with the color that is least used in the focal point. This will allow all the colors to blend in without taking away from your focal point. If your focal point is a door or window consider decorating the outside of the window or door so it looks like a garden. There are so many different ways to create a new look with your garden. If you have chosen a shelf as part of your focal point then decorate it with style and color. Place flowers or arrange plants in order to make it look balanced. Sometimes a mantle becomes the focal point. A mantle can be decorated to look traditional or contemporary, chic, country, or modern. There are so many ways you can create a focal point with a mantle. Don’t be afraid to highlight the focal point with lights, curtains, or plants to make it stand out. You want to create a focal point that stands out for every one, not just what stands out for you. You can also highlight the focal point with area rugs like solid color rugs to help you get more color and to create an emphasis on your focal point. You need a focal point in each room and in order to find the right focal point you simply need to find out where your eyes go to the quickest when you want into the room. Never count the television as part of the focal point unless it is placed inside a unique television stand. If the television is on then it will automatically attract your attention and mistakenly seem like the focal point however, it is important to turn the television off and the walk out. Wait a few minutes and step back into the room to locate your focal point. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Focal Point
