Handmade Christmas Ornaments
Handmade Christmas Ornaments I found gold glittered ornaments at the craft store I really like. I placed some in canning jars and also used them for the dining room table centerpiece. They looked easy enough to make so that's what I did. I made them out of old ornaments that haven't been used in years.
The handmade Christmas ornaments were easy to make, however, there are three different steps and drying time in between. I made a wreath for our fireplace for the fall season out of corn husk. I was sad to see it go, so I decided to keep it for Christmas and decorate it with the glittered ornaments I made. The wreath has natural gold tones so it fits in well with the gold, green and rust colors I've used for decorating. The materials needed for the ornaments are as follows; balls, copper spray paint, white fabric paint,
If you don't have old ornaments, check out the Dollar Store for plastic ornaments or the craft store for glass ornaments that can be painted.
I hung the ornaments from skewers and placed each end of the skewer on plastic jars to let dry between coats of paint.
Decorating with Greenery
It's nice to decorate with fresh pine, it looks good and also smells good. I buy rope garland that is about twenty feet long for about $7.00 each. The garland is usually not full enough so I add more greenery. I don't buy the greenery, most places that sell and trim Christmas trees are more than willing to give away the trimmings for free. I use rope garland and tree trimmings to make wreaths for my doors, garland for the fireplace and garland for the front entrance. It's easy to do. To make the wreath; cut a piece of garland rope to your desired length. Cut the branches from the tree trimmings and wire them to the garland rope. I tied burlap rope to the top of this wreath to make a bow. Next, I wired pinecones and wooden cranberries to the greenery. I keep it simple and use limited decorations. The same steps are followed when makeing the garland. I cut the garland rope to desired length for the fire place and front door. Next, I cut tree trim and wire it to the garland rope until the garland is nice and full. Again I kept the decorations simple by only adding small gold ornaments. Putting it all Together I love seeing a lot of lights and decorations, but for my home I keep it simple.
The handmade Christmas ornaments have been placed on the wreath. The wreath takes center stage.
The canning jars are filled with ornaments and pinecones and placed on the fireplace mantel.
Bamboo candle holders we made for our fall decorations are also placed on the fireplace mantel.
The fireplace mantel is completed with garland decorated with gold ornaments. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Handmade Christmas Ornaments
