Vintage Copper Snowman

When I started to look for new holiday decorations this year I found this vintage metal snowman at a local Goodwill store for just $10.

I bought him to place on our front door. We have hammered copper on the top archway of our front door so I decided to spray paint the snowman hammered copper to match.

The scarf, hat and buttons I painted with Rustoleum black paint using a paint brush. After the black paint dried, I sprayed a little copper paint over the scarf, hat and buttons.

Compared to other holiday decorations I have made over the years, this was a pretty easy project. I think he will look great on our front door with fresh garland.

Snowman Christmas Tree

I love this snowman Christmas tree! This tree is one of my favorite holiday decorations of all time. I wish I could say he is my creation but my friend Vinny puts this tree together every Christmas. When it was first described to me, I just couldn't get a visual.

If you are tired of a traditional Christmas trees or if you decorate more than one tree for your house, this is definitely the tree to have. I haven't met a person who doesn't like him. He brings a lot of cheer to a room.

I think he would also make a great table top tree. You could make him any size. The snowman pictured is about 7 ft tall. If you use an artificial tree the batting can remain on the tree when you pack it away for the next holiday season.

Materials and How to;

  • Artificial Christmas tree
  • White Christmas tree lights (place lights on tree first)
  • Cotton Batting for body of tree (stuff in between branches to make the body)
  • Cotton Batting Sheet for the head (wrap around the top of tree and tie around the neck with string or green garden wire)
  • Black Pom-Poms for eyes, mouth and buttons ( glue Pom-Poms to cotton batting)
  • Plastic carrot for nose (stick the noes through the batting, it should stay without gluing)
  • Branches for the arms
  • Complete the snowman with a velvet hat and scarf

The first year Vinny put glitter on the snowman. He said it's too messy so he stopped using the glitter. There are still signs of the glitter on the snowman from previous years.
