Home Office Storage

home office storage

Home office storage can be a problem and look messy. If your anything like Greg, you want to keep certain files that are used frequently handy.

Storage, file boxes and crates that help organize your home office, can be unattractive and do little for your home office decor. The solution.......slip covers......

I recently turned a small trunk into a bench by making a pillow top with a burlap coffee bean bag. The top half of the bag was left over.

As it turned out, the bag was a perfect fit for one of Greg's plastic file crates he keeps on a book shelf in our home office.

Any type of fabric would work. I suggest a heavier fabric like burlap or cotton duck.

What I did;

It was very simple. The top of the coffee bean bag was still in tack. I placed the crate inside the bag, no sewing required.

Cut a piece of card board the same size as the bottom of the file crate so I would have something to glue the bag to. Folded the bag like wrapping a package. I glued the burlap to the card board box using a glue gun.

For easy sliding, plastic feet can be glued to the bottom or just add another piece of card board. I didn't do either one to our file crate, it's a tight fit on the shelf. I thought anything additional would add to the height of the file box and make it hard to slide out.

The burlap coffee bean bag looks so much better than the plastic file crate. Now I have one more plastic crate to cover. I will have to make a trip to our local hardware store to purchase another coffee bean bag. For just $.99 a bag, it's an easy fix for unattractive home office storage boxes and crates.
