House Cleaning Tips![]() I thought I would pass along a few house cleaning tips that save me both time and work. I'm always looking for a few ideas or suggestions to make my life a little easier just like everybody else. Like most people I have a job and I don't like spending my whole day off cleaning the house. Probably the biggest problem is clutter. When there is stuff all over the place it makes it harder to clean. A clutter free space looks clean and tidy. You can't do it by yourself, it takes co-operation from everyone. What you can do.........make a place to put stuff so everyone can help eliminate clutter. For example, if your tired of clutter and tripping over shoes, jackets and back packs when you enter you house, make a place for them. I have a small entry on the side of our house. We have decorative hooks hanging all over the walls for jackets, keys and anything else that needs hanging. Vintage wood boxes are stacked as shelves for shoes. Everything has it's place, so the entrance remains tidy and easier to clean. Another way to declutter is to clear your bathroom and kitchen counter tops. If it's not used daily why have it out? Use baskets or bins to store items on counters to clear clutter and make it easier for cleaning. Don't forget to give the kids some house cleaning tips too. Try giving them decorative boxes to store their toys and other items to keep clutter under control in bedrooms and playrooms. Place hampers or baskets in bedroom closets for dirty clothes. If you give them a place to put stuff, you'll be surprised at how tidy they may become. Make it convenient for them to be clutter free. When our house is clean I'm in a much better mood. Instead of taking a full day once a week to clean, I clean something every day. I'll dust one day, clean bath rooms another day, in other words split it up though out the week. You'll find cleaning this way keeps the house in order. When you start working on other projects such as yard work, laundry, or a DIY project, your regular house chores won't fall behind. I saw this tip in BHG magazine. Use plastic sleeves for electronic cords. I hate all the snarl mess and the dust bunnies cords collect. You can make your own plastic sleeves or look for them in office supply stores. Investing in the right cleaning tools is probably one of the best house cleaning tips there is as proper tools make the job easier and faster. I have all hardwood floors. I purchased a dust mop with removable microfiber clothes that can be thrown in the washing machine. It has a long head and fits easily under the furniture for dusting. I use it for moping too by keeping a spray bottle of cleaner handy. I like a tidy, clean and organized house, I just don't won't to spend my life keeping it that way.
