Kids Room Decorating
Turn your kids room decorating ideas into something they will treasure and remember through the years. You don't have to start totally from scratch. By adding your own little touch here and there to an already made item, you will make it special and something for them to treasure over the years. I wanted pictures of our kid's kitchen set for Decor Made Simple's web site. I sent our ten year old on a mission to take these pictures for me. I was surprised at all the other pictures she took of other projects that were made for them over the years. Just a few of these projects included boxes that were hand painted to store items such as toys, books and dress up clothes. The painted boxes have a multi purpose, they keep the space tidy and they add fun and simple decor to a little princess or cowboy's playroom or bedroom. I came to the realization that these hand made objects are treasued and remembered. By adding my own touch I made the projects unique and one of a kind. There are many different ways to create memories for our kids. As big people we have fond memories of when we were little people. Most of those memories are small nothing earth shattering, yet memories of happy times. We have fun creating memories for our kids and for us too. Make a Kitchen for Your Little Chef
When Skylar, our ten year old was smaller, I had in my mind what kind of play kitchen I wanted for her. I didn't want plastic or metal, I wanted a wood kitchen set and they can be pricey. My husband has the knack for bargain hunting, he found this great wood stove in an antique store. It was missing it's oven door but it had possibilities. Next I wanted a little play cabinet to store her dishes. I put the vibes out and my husband came through again by finding the perfect little wood kitchen cabinet at the flea market. We added our own touches and made a sink, cabinet combination. Finding a wood refrigerator was more challenging. We bought a new one reasonably priced and made some changes to tie it in with the stove and cabinet. We searched for a kids wood table and chair set with no luck. Than I remembered the chair and table set that was at grandma's house that belonged to mom once upon a time. It's 30 something years old, but with a little face lift it fits in perfect. Our 5 year old Jadyn has been taking her turn with the kitchen set. Who knows what little chef will be next. One thing is certain, the kitchen set is treasured and has made memories in the past as well as the present. Invest some time and come up with your own kids room decorating ideas, it's a whole lot more fun than just going shopping. Another great way to liven up your playroom is to help with some kids art projects. Creating original art with your kids is a great way to spend time together while at the same time getting their creative juices flowing. Grandma's bragging rights..........when I wrote the above paragraph I had no idea that.........Lillian Hope will be the nex little chef putting on the chef hat and apron. She will be our next little chef to take her turn with the kitchen set. She makes her debut around February, 2010. Post a Comment Click "From" for the drop down menu.
