Kielbasa Recipes
After reviewing our penne pasta recipe, Bridget submitted one of her favorite Kielbasa Recipes.
She has a unique tip on flavoring any type of pasta with crushed red pepper while it is cooking.
Bridget said, "by flavoring the pasta with crushed red pepper, little is needed to complete the
dish". The crushed red pepper adds enough flavoring that all you need to add is olive oil to make a tasty dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Penne pasta cooked in water (duh) but my trick is to add 1Tbsp. crushed red pepper seeds to the water then drain.
- 1 lb. All beef kielbasa, cut thin on the bias a fried well.
- 1 Can of cannalini beans drained and rinsed
- 1 Can of diced tomatoes (do not drain)
- 10 Fresh basil leaves roughly chopped
- 1 Whole clove of garlic (keep it whole to remove later, only for taste)
- 1/2 Cup of shaved parmesan
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
- Cook pasta and pepper seeds to aldente
- In frying pan saute the kielbasa to a crispy brown
- Remove kielbasa, but in same pan add diced tomatoes, basil and garlic, bring to a boil for about 2 minutes, then simmer.
- Remove garlic clove
- Add your beans and simmer for an addition 2 minutes
- Toss in your pasta and kielbasa
- Add salt and pepper to taste
- Top with shaved parmesan and fresh basil sprig
Important not to add kielbasa until the end, you dont want to steam or boil it.
