Mrs. Olga's M and M Cookie Recipe

A family friend, Mrs. Olga was the best at making desserts. Her M and M cookie recipe was always a favorite for us kids at family get togethers. The tradition continues and now it has become the favorite for Jadyn our 6 year old grand daughter, they even win over her old favorite, chocolate chunk cookies.

The soft cookie pairs well with the crunchy, chocolatey M and M's. M and M cookies are easy to put together and take no time to eat. Store in an air tight container, placing wax paper between each layer to eliminate the cookies from sticking together.

For a softer cookie, bake until very lightly tan. For a crunchy cookie, bake until lightly browned.

M&M Cookie Ingredients:

• 1 Cup Brown Sugar (firmly packed)
• 1/2 Cup Sugar
• 1/2 Cup Shortening
• 1/2 Cup Butter
• 2 Eggs
• 1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
• 2 1/4 Cups Flour
• 1 Teaspoons Baking Soda
• 1 Teaspoon Salt
• 1 1/2 Cups M&M's

Cream sugars, shortening, eggs, and vanilla thoroughly. Mix dry ingredients together, flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend dry ingredients into cream mixture, mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups M&M's. Drop by teaspoon full on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees up to 10 minutes, shorter time for soft cookies longer time for crunchy cookies. Let cool completely before storing. Store in an air tight container placing wax paper between each layer of cookies to eliminate cookies from sticking together. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
