Room Makeover
Quick and Easy Room Makeovers I have fun rearranging home accessories for a quick and easy room makeover. It works for me, the room takes on a fresh look without spending money. You stop noticing things when they sit in the same spot for a long time, when they're moved, they become noticeable again. It's almost like buying new home accessories.
When the seasons change so does our house. My moods are different for each season, I like cozy in the fall and winter and fresh in the spring and summer. That means, for spring and summer I declutter, in other words, I minimize the accessories. Makeover a bedroom by changing linen for the season. I like to remove our down comforter in exchange for a lighter bedspread when spring arrives. Put away the flannel sheets and pull out fresh cotton. Put away all the cozy toss pillows and make the room feel lighter for spring and summer. For an easy way to change the look of a toss pillow, insert it inside a printed case, fold it over tight and use Velcro to attach it on the backside.
Moving art to a different location also makes a big impact for a room makeover. A little patching on the walls is usually required but it's still a quick and easy way to change the look of a room. It also draws attention to an art piece that was no longer noticed. We have frames I painted filled with family photos. I've since added painted frames with family photos to the wall collage. This not only brings the photos to date but it adds new interest to the room.
Who says book shelves are just for books? I find visual clutter can be reduced by standing books and stacking others. Using little accessories in between for visual interest. Baskets or covered boxes to compact files and other necessities. The entry way is what people see first. It's an easy fix by utilizing what's around the house. I like to think outside the box and go for a unique look. No matter the size of the entry way there are ways to reduce clutter with hooks, benches, console tables, dressers, and small tables.
Our back entrance is a Dianna original. We have old boxes to contain shoes, hats, and gloves. Door knob hooks and a chalkboard rack I've made from various materials for hanging keys and other garments.
