Strawberry Shortcake Recipe
The chocolate lover in you will enjoy this strawberry shortcake recipe. The mix of chocolate shortcakes, strawberries and home made hot fudge doesn't get much better. It's an easy to make dessert and one that will not disappoint you. This recipe has all the right ingredients, simple, tasty and has great presentation. The chocolate strawberry shortcake can be made into one large cake by layering chocolate shortcakes, strawberries and whip cream or individual shortcakes to order. Strawberry Chocolate Shortcake:
Heat oven to 375. Grease 3 cookie sheets. In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Cut butter or margarine into pieces. With pastry blender or large fork cut butter into flour mixture until coarse crumbs form. With a fork stir in milk until mixture clumps together. You may have to add a little more milk. To make one large cake, divide the ingredients onto cookie sheet to make 4 to 5 four inch round cakes. Sprinkle each with sugar. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cakes completely. Layer shortcakes by spreading whip cream onto each cake and topping with fresh sliced strawberries. Finish by topping with remaining whip cream and garnish with whole berries. Just before serving pour on hot fudge topping. Prepare no more than 2 hours before serving. For individual shortcakes place ingredients by heaping tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for about 10 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.
