Summer With Grandkids 2010Summer With Grandkids 2010 Wow, this summer has been a hot one in Ohio. It's coming close to the end but the temperatures are still in the 90's. I love having the windows open. Those that live in colder climates can appreciate what I am talking about. The house stays closed up though the winter months, when spring arrives it's time to open up. We had a grand time as always with our grandkids this summer. Grandpa had a long day traveling by plane to pick them up again.......... but, as we said before it's well worth it! This year a tree mural was waiting for them to complete in their attic tree house playroom. Boy....oh..... boy....they did such a good job. The creatures they painted really made the tree mural come alive.. With the hot temperatures we explored a lot of swimming places. That suits Jadyn just fine, she loves swimming.
We took our annual hiking trip to Hocking Hills in Logan, Ohio this year. One of the highlights of the trip was staying in a caboose. It had all the modern amenities such as bunk beds, kitchen and bathroom.
It was a typical old caboose on the out side, but on the inside not so typical. The bunk beds were quite a hit with the girls. There were windows at the top for viewing the trees, nature and scary critters!
Hocking Hills is one of the most beautiful places to hike. Cool gorge hiking that was a welcome retreat for this hot summer and cliff hiking for those that are brave enough. Greg fooled everyone with an e-mail of this photo he cropped to make us look like we were on top of a high cliff. HeeHeeHee! Don't you think he did a good job? The park is unique for long hiking trails or half hour round trip trails that would take us to magical spots like the Devil's Swimming Pool (Skylar's Favorite), Rock House, Upper Waterfalls, and Old Man's Cave. Our four weeks with the kids came to a very quick end. We cherish our time with them and love making memories that we will have forever. When it was time to return the kids, we went on a road trip to meet their parents, brother Nate and 6 month old Lilly at a half way mark. Lucky for us Hilton Head Island is the half way mark. Hilton Head brings back a lot of fond memories as we used to vacation there when our daughter was younger.
Lilly will be joining us when she's a little older and hopefully Nate, if he can squeeze us into his busy sports schedule, on our special grandparents and grandkids vacations. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Summer With Grandkids 2010
