Summer With Our Grandkids
Summer With Our Grandkids Since we moved back north, our grandkids come and spend 4-6 weeks during the summer with us. This is the second summer we had them without their parents and we had a blast.
Greg left at 5:00 AM for the airport to pick them up and arrived back with them at 7:30 PM. Quite a long day for him. There were storms that caused delays. It took a lot of rushing from one airport and air plane to the next, but at the end of the day it was worth every minute because we had our grandkids. Let the fun begin.............we stay in Ohio and take a lot of mini vacations. We are amazed at all the stuff we find to do. We both grew up in Ohio and raised our daughter for 8 years in Ohio before moving out of state. We thought we had done it all. Now that we are exploring with our grandkids we are finding that's not true. When your with the youngins...........have you ever noticed the stuff that comes back to you from when you were a kid? Such as this tune that popped in my head one day and we started singing: Here we go Looped DE Loo. Here we go Looped DE La. Here we go Looped DE Loo. All on a Saturday night................
The kids like to explore and look for treasures or what ever else we decide to look for like purple worms and such. I saw a clover and suggested looking for a four leaf clover because 3 leaf clovers are easy to find. What was a clover to me as a little girl are weeds I pull from the flower beds today. I find it interesting how easy the kids can make me revert back to childhood thinking and see stuff differently. There are certain things that are always on the agenda such as an art project that we do when we are together. Last year they hung their art projects in their attic tree house playroom we have for them, but this year they decided to take their art projects home for their bedroom walls. They also have their tasty treats they like to bake by themselves like Oreo pizza. Our 2 oldest, Skylar and Nate love cinnamon rolls, so I bake a batch while they are hear. The last week our daughter and son-in-law arrive and it's count down time to when they will all be heading home. It's always a sad time, the grandkids don't want to leave and we want them to stay. Our last day was good for making memories. Our town has the Football Hall of Fame festival every year that includes hot air balloons. Every year the number of balloons that hit the sky vary around 70 give or take a few. The direction the balloons fly is all up to the direction the wind is blowing. Luck would have it, the wind was blowing in our direction. The balloons were coming in droves, one after one landing in a baseball field behind our house. Wow, is it ever a beautiful sight to see. The owners of the balloons are very friendly people and welcome any help they can get from, holding the baskets down when they land, to pulling the ropes to drop the balloons, to rolling on the balloons to help release the air. Our kids along with their dad were more than willing to oblige. When our daughter was young she used to come back to Ohio for summer vacation. It was good memory making time for her, now it's good memory making times for her kids. Grandpa and I were left with taking care of Alex, the gold fish Jadyn won playing a game at the festival. Surprisingly, Alex is still swimming around in the flower vase we use for his home. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Summer With Our Grandkids
