Teenage Bedroom Ideas
Teenage Bedroom Ideas Kid's bedroom decorating ideas are easy, just ask them what they want. I'm sure you'll find they have more than enough decorating ideas. It's one room in the house that's their own space and how they want it decorated can change a lot as they grow. Our granddaughter Skylar is no exception. She has gone from pink and purple with butterflies, to beachy, and than black with peace signs. Now that Skylar is almost a teenager she has acquired a more sophisticated taste, Paris vintage. Because teenage bedroom ideas are constantly changing, repurposing, upcycling, and reuse is a smart choice. The kids have more decorating options and it's more affordable for you. Vintage is right up my alley so, when Skylar gave me her "laundry list," I wasn't short on ideas. Not to mention the fun I had creating by upcycling and repurposing. For Skylar's bedroom I upcycled an iron railing to make a chippy wrought iron headboard and found a gawdy chandelier that I repurposed into a funky chandelier that fits perfect in her room. Vintage Hat Box I found a vintage hat box at an antique store. It's huge, great for storage and it was the right price, $12.00. A friend just returned from Paris and uploaded 183 photos onto Facebook, great timing for me. With her permission, I developed some of the photos in black and white so I could decorate the hat box.
I made vintage hats for Halloween, they fit perfect inside the hat box, two gifts in one. Displayed on top of glass hurricanes, the Charleston vintage hat and vintage top hat make great decorations for Skylar's bedroom.
Materials Used;
How To Make; Clean hat box and spray paint black. After the hat box dried I painted Paris France with a design around the lip of the hat box lid. Next; I arranged photos on the hat box to give me an idea of placement before using mod podge. Attach photos with mod podge. Complete with three layers of mod podge over the hat box including the pictures. Framed Antique Map of France
We have an antique map that our great grandpa acquired when he was in the service. The framed map makes a perfect addition to Skylar's Paris vintage bedroom. I used the same silver tarnishing technique for the picture frame that I used to repurpose the chandelier. The tarnished effect looked perfect framed around the antique map. Materials Used;
How To Make; Sand frame with rough grit sandpaper. Cover frame with pieces of aluminum foil using mod podge to adhere. Distress the aluminum foil using burnt umber paint. Protect the frame with 2 coats of mod podge.
