Unique Wall Art
Art comes in different forms and techniques. Unique wall art can come from a variety of objects with interesting shapes, colors and materials. Think outside the box, art isn't just for canvas or paper. Architectural pieces make great art and accessories. The frame you see in this photo was once a mirror frame for a dresser. With a little paint it was transformed into a window with shutters looking out onto the sea at sail boats driffing by. The mirror was removed and replaced with plywood. The plywood was painted with primer to keep the paint from obsorbing into the wood. Next, the picture was sketched and painted. If you do not draw or paint use other techniques. Find a fabric with an interesting outside scene and glue it onto the plywood. Make your unique wall art piece 3 dimensional by using objects and gluing them onto the plywood or trace and paint by number.
Look at these photos of window frames that were found at a salvage yard. This is a great example of using objects as art because the architectual design of them are interesting. They are about 5' tall with black wood frames, the windows are still intact. One frame hangs diagonal and the other hangs vertical. The window frames make unique art pieces for the wall, no paintings or pictures needed. When walking through salvage yards, flea markets or that favorite junk store, think outside the box to find art. Look for objects with interesting shapes made of different materials. It can be anything, a piece of wood with an interesting shape, an iron gate that was once attached to a fence, or an abstract configuration that would make a great conversation piece.
This is another idea to give your plain wood picture frames a little design and color. Again, art isn't just for canvas or paper. Simply painting the trim or adding a design can transform a simple wood frame into an art piece for framing your photos or art. You can make your wall of photos look like a wall of art. Framing black and white photos inside these colorful frames would make your photos pop and add interest to your wall.
These wood picture frames were sanded before painting so the paint would adhere to them. Next a solid coat of paint was applied, the trim was painted or a design was added. If you want an aged appearance, use sand paper to remove some of the paint in areas. For small projects like this, small bottles of acrylic paints found in craft stores for a dollar or two are great to use. They last a long time and it's a cheep way to purchase a lot of different colors. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Unique Wall Art
