Yard Decorations
Here are a couple quick and easy yard decorations I made from things we had in our garage. When I look outside from indoors I like to see foliage, not streets or the neighbors houses. I love plants, trees, bushes and flowers, but I also like a low maintenance yard. A low maintenance landscape usually means more green than any other color. We do have flowers scattered around but I also use yard decorations to add color. Decorating outside is a lot of fun because I like to play with a brighter color pallet than what I would use indoors.
Materials used;
I like using painted galvanized buckets for flower pots in our yard. I love how they add color and they're very durable. The painted buckets also make great window boxes. To make a bird bath I removed the handles from each of the buckets. I did not use any glue to connect the buckets.
The middle bucket stacked nicely inside the rim of the bottom bucket. A brick was placed inside the middle bucket to add weight. The notches on each side of the buckets from where the handles were removed made a great way to lock the middle and top buckets together. I sprayed painted the galvanized trash can lid copper to match copper details on the front of the house. I thought holes would be left in the lid if I removed the handle so I pounded in the bottom of the top bucket so the lid would sit on top evenly. The bird bath made with the colorful buckets sits back among the foliage. A peak of color looks amazing through all the green. The second bird bath took a very short time to put together. The plastic terracotta pots look like clay pots, but they won't break if they topple over. I didn't glue the pots together. I simply stacked them on top of each other and placed a brick inside the middle pot to add weight. The water in the saucer adds additional weight. The saucer is light weight and easy to remove for cleaning and to add fresh water. Share this page with your Facebook friends by clicking the Like button. Return from Yard Decorations
